Ana K. Rodriguez and UPDATE Economedes High School

Ana K. Rodriguez, a 2007 graduate of Economedes High School, received a $2,500 Tech Prep scholarship she plans to use at St. Edwards University, majoring in accounting and eventually attending law school.

2008 UPDATE

The freshman year passed very quickly for Ana Rodriguez. During her first year at St. Edwards University in Austin, she was busy learning such things as the Principles of Accounting and Freshmen Studies: Theology. Even though she found some of the classes very rigorous, she maintained a 3.5 grade point average.

Ana also volunteered her time last year on two different projects. One was for bake sales to provide school supplies for African children and the other involved obtaining books for orphans in the United States.

While still in high school at Economedes High School in Edinburg, Ana Karen took tech prep classes from the Information Technology and Accounting and Business Career pathways and surprised herself by discovering she had strengths in these areas. She’s sure of one thing, "the mental skills involved in learning accounting, prepares one for the analytical thinking necessary for law school."

When she returns to St. Edwards in the fall, she will be majoring in Accounting and minoring in Political Science.
