Veronica Rosales, a May 2002 graduate of Edinburg North High School, Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, received a $2,000 scholarship to South Texas Community College, where she is pursuing her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. In her application, Rosales stated that the Health Science courses she took in high school gave her a head start on accomplishing her college goals because she was able to begin college with credits already on her transcript. She stated, “My Medical Terminology course has given me a vocabulary that college freshmen and sophomores are just tapping into. This makes me excited and reduces the nervousness of entering college for the first time.”
