Dr. Juan R. Iglesias, Postsecondary Teacher of the Year 2008 The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College

Dr. Juan R. Iglesias, Chair and Associate Professor for the Computer and Information Sciences Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, has been selected as the post secondary Teacher of the Year. Dr. Iglesias helps to coordinate the business educators from area high schools with the post secondary business instructors so that students move along their career pathway efficiently. This encourages all students, but especially students who have been identified as underprivileged and disadvantaged. This individual chairs a department for his institution and works with students as an associate professor. Dr. Iglesias goes a step beyond to ensure that opportunities to earn college credits while still in high school are made available to the high school students who are enrolled in these dual enrollment courses.
